20th Anniversary of Fisher River Park Celebration

(Dobson, N.C.) – Surry County citizens are encouraged to attend an exciting day of live music, entertainment, food trucks, a car show, games and activities, hayrides, smores by the campfire and a movie in the park at dark. Each will be offered at Surry County Parks and Recreation’s 20th Anniversary of Fisher River Park Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 16 from Noon to 8 p.m. The park is located at 251 County Home Road near Dobson. Admission is free, but one canned food donation per person is suggested.

Musical acts include Mayberry Squares, who will perform at 1 p.m., Taylor Vaden as Elvis Presley at 2 p.m. and the Marshall Brothers and Highroad at 3 p.m.

The public may bring cars to the car show, which will not be judged in a competition.

The movie will start when it gets dark, so citizens should arrive before sunset and enjoy all the other activities.

About Fisher River Park

Located on the banks of the picturesque Fisher River, Surry County’s Fisher River Park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. The park is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and supplies an ideal climate for nature enthusiasts. Maintained by Surry County’s Parks and Recreation Department, Fisher River Park will always be safe, clean and beautiful.

Fisher River Park provides an array of playing fields. The park features one baseball field and two softball fields, one regulation soccer field and one pee wee soccer field. Also available is a volleyball court, basketball court and a horseshoe pit. In addition, a 1/4 mile paved walking trail and a challenging mountain bike trail are also offered.

For those who wish to simply relax and enjoy the outdoors, Fisher River Park offers several picnic shelters for large and small groups. An amphitheater is also located in the park, and for children, the park provides two playgrounds.
