Mount Airy - Surry County Airport Authority


The Mount Airy-Surry County Airport Authority was created in March of 1963 by Surry County and the City of Mount Airy for the purposes of constructing and operating the airport. The Authority is administered by Surry County as a blended component unit. The Authority Board has seven members, five are appointed by Surry County and two are appointed by the City of Mount Airy. Day-to-day operations at the airport are conducted by the Fixed Base Operator (FBO), Ra-Tech Aviation.

NOTICE: Effective September 1, 2017, Runway 18/36 is closed for resurfacing. The runway is expected to reopen on October 11, 2017 for daytime operations only. The runway is expected to be available for nighttime operations on November 7, 2017. Construction schedules are subject to change due to the potential for adverse weather conditions.
